"Larry" as his friends call him, writes a monthly column in Bee Culture Magazine. He is a popular speaker at many of the top beekeeping meetings in the United States and owns Wicwas Press.

When I started reading "Increase Essentials" I could not put the book down.  This book is written in the style of Dr. C.C. Miller.   It is filled with beekeeping essentials for the person wanting to how to keep bees alive or make increases to keep what you have.  If you are looking for what is an ideal nucleus hive -- then by all means buy this book.  If you are looking at raising some queens -- then by all means buy this book.  This book is written in a practical easy to understand language.  Larry shares his experiences and knowledge with the reader, and this is a fresh approach which many books do not follow.  Rather than reading about something, Larry illustrates and explains in detail what you need to know in order to succeed at beekeeping.   I would put this book in the must have category.
